HISTORY
324 years ago.
At one time the Empire of Barravar rule had spread
across an entire continent with only the dwarves and the monsters of the
wild lands not under their thumb. It was a time of peace and growth
with the ideals of chivalry and a strong faith in the gods firmly in the
minds of the people. And then it all ended, Emperor Juluis Candeth III a
strong fine leader ruled in an age of wealth and peace, looking back at
the great deeds of his forefathers Juluis knew his name would have no
place in history. Yearning for his place in greatness he gathered his
ministers and councillors and told them to find someway to heighten the
greatness of the Empire. It was elven councillar Endiyion Laethien who
told the emperor of the lost elven Alabaster Throne deep in the Wild
Lands, filled with lost treasure and magics from ages past if the
emperor could return with these things the empires riches would be
doubled if not tripled and his name would be set in history. And so the
emperor gathered an army larger any seen in centurys and marched into
the wild lands to gather the riches of the elves. From here little is
known of what happened on emperor's quest but that he and his army were lost
in the Wild Lands returning from the Alabaster Throne with no one
having escaped the slaughter.
With the Emperor dead and the empire having lost one of the largest armies in history the elves were ready. Spread throughout the empire elven agents starting reminding locals of the good days before the empire tore their homes away from them and with the empire now weakend and without a ruler wouldn't it be a great time to fight for your freedom from those foreigners? At the same time Endiyion still serving as councillor pitted the Candeth family against itself to see who would serve as the next emperor tying the desicion for months and by the time Markan Candeth took the throne the first rebellion had begun far far to the south in Jaegmundi the tribal warriors overthrowing the small garrisons placed there and proclaiming their independance. With the elves supplying magical assisstance and valuable intel dozens of nations rebelled over the next hundred years and as the empire fought to bring these nations back under their control the empire found itself in a civil war as cousins of Juluis Candath claimed rightful rulership of the throne. Over the next three hundred years Barravar would have six civil wars and lose almost all of the land it once held and is now just another nation amongst dozens of others across the continent.
